Find The Doubleclicks in February: Interviews, Shows & More

NerdNightOut FebruaryHello everyone! We’ve got a lot going on in February (and even more coming up in the near future–stay tuned), so we thought we’d put together a handy guide to where you can listen to us, both in person and online!

The Mary Sue: I wrote a piece about hopelessness and politics and it was published by The Mary Sue! I tried to motivate myself into action–perhaps it will help some of you as well.

BJ Shea’s Geek Nation: We visited Seattle podcast BJ Shea’s Geek Nation to chat about music, gaming, finding our way into the arms of the geek community (it was magical), and why you shouldn’t necessarily be impressed by a boyfriend who plays guitar. We’re just saying.

Online Show: In case you missed our latest online show, featuring the fantastic Library Bards, check it out below!

Have you heard about The Doubleclicks’ upcoming #NerdNightOut show in Portland 2/12Our amazing evening of feel-good comedy is at the Doug Fir Lounge with comedian Joseph Scrimshaw and multi-instrumentalist Dr. Something, and there’s still time to get tickets!

We’ve had several local geek-friendly businesses help us spread the word, so we wanted to make sure to give them a shoutout here–make it a #NerdDayOut and visit them!

Bridge City Comics3725 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97227
Hours: Sun-Thurs 11:00 am-7:00 pm, Fri-Sat 11:00 am-8:00 pm
Bridge City Comic’s motto is “Comics for the People,” and they back it up with a welcoming staff and a great selection of cool books! They sell new and used comics and graphic novels, and offer a monthly Graphic Novel Reading Club. Bridge City also has regular signings and even has local geek-friendly bands (like us!) over to play.

Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade511 NW Couch St, Portland, OR 97209
Hours: Open Noon-Late Daily, 21+ & I.D. required after 5:00 pm
What’s a #NerdDayOut without video games? Ground Kontrol is a super-cool arcade and bar (all-ages until 4:30 pm) with an eye-popping collection of pinball machines. Keep an eye out for their weekly Geeks Who Drink pub quizzes–they’ll be giving away two tickets for our #NerdNightOut show at the Doug Fir!

Guardian Games345 SE Taylor St, Portland, OR 97214
Hours: Mon-Sat 10:00 am-10:00 pm (sometimes later) Sun 12:00 pm-8:00 pm
Guardian Games is yet another geeky Portland paradise that doubles as a music venue, but the first thing you’ll see when you get there is pretty much any nerdy tabletop or card game known to man. And an acre of tables to play at. Add their bar, the Critical Sip, to the equation, and you can see why it’s a second home to so many gamers!

We’re so lucky to have so many awesome nerdy businesses in Portland, and since many of them took a hit with snow and ice this month, now’s the perfect time to show your support!
